Frequently Asked Questions about Lorica Wealth Management

Why should I deal with Lorica Wealth Management?

We differentiate ourselves from other wealth managers as the result of a number of unique features which include:

  • We are independent and independently owned. Therefore we are not linked to any bank, any fund manager, or insurer.
  • We are directly registered with the FSA which means that there are no external influences to our advice.
  • Our proposition dictates total transparency about any fees, costs or commissions being disclosed to our clients.
  • Once you become a wealth management client our focus is totally on you and the management of your assets.
  • Our core business is providing and implementing a consistent integrated investment strategy for each of our clients.
  • Our wealth managers are well qualified and experienced and often have degrees or qualifications in other finance or business related subjects.
  • We have a reputation for honesty, integrity and thoroughness.

How much money do I need to become a wealth management client?

Typically, our clients are professionals, business owners, or executives of corporate entities. Many clients are also retired with significant portfolios demanding management and income. We have three levels of wealth management clients:

  1. Premier WM clients would typically have in excess of £500,000 under management.
  2. Lorica WM clients need between £50,000 and £500,000 under management.
  3. Transaction WM clients are those who have a simple requirement for transactional purchases for which they need basic advice.

We seek clients for whom we can provide an excellent value service and who can benefit significantly from a long term relationship with us.

How do you get paid?

Lorica will charge an initial fee for the investment advice given at outset, which will be agreed between the adviser and the client. Thereafter, investment management fees are paid as a proportion of the assets under management and will be in accordance with the Terms of Engagement. We take no other compensation of any kind, either directly or indirectly, from the insurance companies or fund managers.

How often do you review my investments?

Depending on which service you subscribe to, we will evaluate and report at predetermined points during the year. After our initial meeting where we discover the full background of your circumstances, aims and ambitions, we will then give you full details of the different levels of service to which you can subscribe. Much will depend on the amount of investment and the type of investor that you are. However, we will have a solution that will suit you. Typically, our clients would be formally reviewed at least twice a year, but for more complex positions, quarterly or even monthly reviews may be applicable.

How have your investments performed over the last few years?

We do not have any typical client portfolios as each portfolio will reflect the time horizons, risk strategies and personal financial goals of each client. We can show you the performance of sample client portfolios that we have managed and we can also illustrate the performance of the investment sub-managers we have used over time. The basis of our research is to identify the best fund managers and opportunities for the future so sometimes past performance is a poor guide to future strategy.

I like managing my own investments but would still like some financial planning and tax advice from Lorica. Is this possible?

This is possible from our holistic financial planning advisers. However, this will form a separate agreement and will be outside the Wealth Management proposition.

Why don’t you implement investment plans by choosing individual shares?

We use very sophisticated analysis methods in constructing diversified and durable long term investment portfolios to help reduce your overall portfolio volatility. Because we use certain investment research tools to provide the “best of breed” opportunities, we are sometimes relying on the expertise of large institutional fund managers and in many cases this is the most cost-effective way to construct globally diversified portfolios.

Is it possible to have references?

Yes, we do have the ability to provide references. However, we are very conscious of client confidentiality and would only provide reference after having had an initial meeting with you as a potential client of our Wealth Management division.

Can I choose the financial adviser or the wealth manager with whom I work?

All those who become wealth management clients become clients of Lorica and as such have access to the full range of our wealth managers. We are very conscious that it is important that the relationship is correct and you as a client will have an adviser who empathises with your particular situation and problems. As this adviser will be looking after your long term future it is most important that you select the right one from outset and to this end we will introduce you to a number of potential people with whom you can work.

What happens if the person I work with leaves Lorica?

If someone leaves Lorica we would immediately introduce you to a suitable replacement adviser based on the experiences that we have of you to date and the input from the administration support team so that we can select someone to provide you with the continuity you require.

How do I get to your office?

Directions and a map are located on our website in the “contact us” section. However, once you become a client you will be able to view all your investments on-line using your unique security code and password.
